I'm not going to lie, there is something extremely therapeutic about food--comfort foods to be exact. I'm not going to say that i was greatly in need of them either, but it was a treat. Soup and Mac-n-Cheese warms my heart in any situation, especially the ones cold as now. Umami is awesome because of it's small portioned appetizers that you want to consume. And pretty much when i saw the special of butternut squash soup, i was sold. And the truffle mac-n-cheese is a beautiful thing. We also got lava cake, but it was too soon consumed before an adequate picture was taken.
So i wanted to show you how lovely they were, so i put the flash on in the restaurant, much to my displeasure.

everything should be harmless,
like the shuddering wind in the frosted trees
nothing should be misread
especially the lines between,
what is illusion and what is real
what you imagine and what you feel,
if everything is simple as life and death,
why is there misconception, strife, and loneliness?
if time is constant, if all else fails,
the life we have is our lovely tale.
Write it truthful,
write it straight
don't be afraid of the impact you make,
the toes you stomp,
and the hearts you break,
will just be bumps of the road you take.
Intertwining and running past,
live it slow not fast,
for you might miss what you see,
and then, my friend, you will be just like me.
Afraid to stand, to sit, to say.
Let your heart be free
let your heart fly away.
wow, i haven't written a poem in ages, and that just flew out of me, like the cold wind outside my window.
feelin' creative, valerie.

A Dustland Fairytale beginning
Just another white trash county kiss
In '61, long brown hair, and foolish eyes

He looked just like you'd want him to
Some kind of slick chrome American Prince
A bluejean serenade, and Moon River, what you do to me

I don't believe you
Saw Cinderella in a party dress
But she was looking for a nightgown

I saw the devil wrapping up his hands
He's getting ready for the showdown
I saw the minute that I turned away
I got my money on a pawn tonight

Change came in disguise of revelation, set his soul on fire
She says she always knew he'd come around

And the decades disappear like sinking ships
But we persevere, God gives us hope
But we still fear what we don't know

Your mind is poison
Castles in the sky sit stranded, vandalized

With drawbridges closing
Saw Cinderella in a party dress
But she was looking for a nightgown
I saw the devil wrapping up his hands
He's getting ready for the showdown
I saw the ending when they turned the page

I threw my money and I ran away

Straight to the valley of the great divide

Out where the dreams all hide

Out where the wind don't blow
Out here, the good girls die
And the sky won't snow

Out here, the bird don't sing

Out here, the field don't grow

Out here, the bell don't ring
Out here, the bell don't ring

Out here, the good girls die

Now Cinderella, don't you go to sleep
It's such a bitter form of refuge
Why don't you know, the kingdom's under siege
And everybody needs you

Is there still magic in the midnight sun
Or did you leave it back in ‘61?

In the cadence of a young man's eyes
Out where the dreams all hide

The magic of Halloween disappeared with my phone, buried under dead leaves and dead hopes.
Funk music seems to be the only thing to keep me out of a funk.
